Post-socialist legacy, wartime destruction, transition to democratic liberal system, and accession to the EU are just some of the challenges to rural development in Croatia. However, while rural areas are regaining principal position in developmental policies, there is a lack of more comprehensive scientific research in Croatia that would inform national development strategies.
